Basket Weaving Demonstration with Charlie Kennard
If you’ve ever visited the Basketry Garden and wanted to know more about the weaver behind it, now’s your chance!
Charlie Kennard will demonstrate weaving a straw beehive or “skep” of the type that he uses for bee-keeping in the Basketry Garden, using species of plants found in the gardens here and traditionally used in basketry—most of them Californian natives. Stop the Livermore Pavilion to watch the skep take shape, and learn more about the process.
