Three to four times a year, a wandering band of pruners equipped with Felcos, saws and ladders descend upon our campus. This sprinkling of gardeners is called the Pruning Guild.
The Pruning Guild is led by a most excellent pruner, Katherine Randolph. She coordinates instructor-led pruning classes here in our gardens and at others in the Bay Area.
While at the Center, the Guild works on small trees and woody shrubs, which we have a lot of; no shortage of learning material here. Their work focuses on plant health, safety, and aesthetics. Some of the region’s best pruners are often here.
I greatly appreciate our mutually beneficial relationship and I am eagerly awaiting the return of this nomadic band of pruners. They add to the community that makes MAGC special to me; it’s one non-profit helping another.
