I recently caught myself staring into a foxglove flower. As my eyes dug deeper into the psychedelic pattern, I became transfixed.
It occurred to me that I had been drawn in by a nectar guide. Like hummingbirds and insects, I was guided into the opening the flower! Of course I was not rewarded with pollen or nectar, which is the purpose of these alluring patterns, but I was happily reminded of another wonder of nature.
Nectar guides can be both visible and only visible with ultraviolet vision. Flower with ultraviolet patterns are sunflower, rudbeckia, and mimulus. Visible patterns, like the kind that drew me in, are on foxglove, azalea, and penstemon, among others.

So let nature guide you too, and behold the beauty!
